With the semester
coming to a close, good use of instructional time is our
main focus at the ATC. The following activities have
taken place over the past few weeks:
Introduction to
Health Sciences
-
The health
science students have been studying human growth and
development. Topics have ranged from physical
changes of aging to emotional well-being.

Students have
also been working on writing activities. Students
wrote responses to the following prompt:
-
Prompt--You are a newly hired nursing assistant
in a local medical facility. The Director of
Nursing has explained to you the facility’s
expectations regarding personal appearance and
hygiene.
Directions- 1. List 4 expectations related to
personal appearance and hygiene.

Explain
the rationale for each expectation
Anatomy and
Physiology
Welding
-
Students spend
two days discussing the proper way to complete a job
application (students identified things you should
know prior to completing the application, procedures
you should follow when requesting an application,
and how to properly deliver an application to an
employer). After the discussion, students completed
a job application from a local industry.
Computer
Applications
-
Students began
a unit on power point (starting a power point,
changing views, using the task pane, using the slide
pane, deleting slides, creating a power point, etc.)

Upcoming
Events:

The ATC staff
will be visiting with Marion County Freshmen on
Friday, December 8th to discuss the new robotics and
automation program. Following the presentation, any
students interested in the program, will visit the
ATC on December 11th.

St. Charles
and Lebanon Middle School 8th grade students will
visit the ATC in January.

Maintenance-A basic electrical class will be offered

A welding
class will be held in conjunction with Elizabethtown
KCTCS for farmers beginning in January

Also, the ATC
would like to thank Stephen Lega from the Lebanon
Enterprise for developing a series of articles focused
around the ATC. The first article was included in this
week’s addition. It focused on the carpentry and
information technology programs.
